Top Tips to Beat the Afternoon Slump

As the work day goes on, we often find ourselves feeling tired and sluggish. How can we make the most of our work day and avoid the fatigue? Here are some ideas that will help you avoid the post-lunch slump and keep your energy level high until the end of the day.

From Breakfast to Lunch

Starting your day off with a nutritious breakfast is the kick start you need to avoid the end of the day tiredness. Not only will it improve your chance of making better meal choices at lunch, but it will also decrease the chance of overeating. Overeating can contribute to that tired feeling and worsen the symptoms of the afternoon slump.

Power Snacks

Get the most of your snacks by including several different elements. Snacks that have protein, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates are more likely to give you the energy you need without the dreaded crash.  In the Pura Vida café you can find fresh fruit, hummus and crackers, and yogurt.

Stay Hydrated

Not only will staying hydrated help boost your energy by helping to maintain normal body function, but it will also give you the opportunity for some exercise. If you feel your energy fading, take a break and walk to the water fountain or Pura Vida café. Be careful when choosing beverages, since drinks with a high sugar content can have adverse effects and worsen the afternoon crash.
