How the Texas freeze has affected local agricultur How the Texas freeze has affected local agriculture.

I heard about the freeze on the news and being from Florida, it sounded like hurricane type damage.

But in traveling through Texas, visiting city gardens and rural farms it’s staggering the impact the frosts have had on the communities here.

From demolishing the desert plants that have grown in the yards of locals for centuries to wiping out entire crops that farmers survive on... it’s wild.

Over the weekend I visited Dell’s Favorite Olive Ranch in Elgin Texas. Excited to see the olive green bushes and try some tasty oils I bumped my way over there in my camper van. Pulling up, I was saddened by the sight of rows and rows of brown, crisped up olive trees ☹️

Chef Frank the owner of the farm notes that the trees might come back, but they might not. Only time will tell. With the usual harvest in September, if the crops are able to make it back in good health, it will likely take at least a year before they can hope to produce a crop for harvest.

To help support Chef Frank and his wife Renee Majowicz I bought some of their delicious olive oil from previous crops and bread dipping spices. I made an amazing dinner out of it featuring gnocchi, sautéed spinach, onions and shiitake mushrooms with a pâté of seasoned lentils.

By implementing a daily practice of movement your can set up a “red flag” system that helps you better understand your health. Some days you will feel great exercising and others, not so much. 

Regardless of the outcome, put on your detective hat and begin to assess why that outcome maybe. How did you sleep last night? Have you been hydrated? Did you eat enough?

Simple investigative questions like these with your daily practice of movement can lead to big break through a in personal health and development.

Take note of what has been working well and set up your life to replicate that if it is leading you in the direction you desire! 🙌🏼

It seems that we are constantly  bombarded with “quick and easy” solutions to our problems these days... and yet, many are still struggling with the same problems these “quick solutions” have vowed to fix.

From weight loss to love there’s and app and likely a pill that promises you those quick and easy results.

Sure sometimes it works, but we know that certainly doesn’t happen over night. It takes time and #consistent #focus on our goals to achieve what we desire. Those extra 10 pounds did not appear over night and in turn, it will take time and consistent behavior change to see those pounds come off and #stayoff .

How journaling changed my life 🤯. Staring at a How journaling changed my life 🤯. Staring at a blank page doesn’t really get you very far. Early on with journaling I struggled to find things to write about that was constructive.

When I first started journaling I used to get stressed easily, was unsure if I was on the right path, was hot and cold with confidence and felt like I was floating through life as I tried to tackle 12 different “jobs” at once. 

I used to journal to “vent” but didn’t realize that I was creating a rather viscous cycle with my thoughts and words. It wasn’t always an incredibly fun experience to be honest.

Overtime I developed and dove into questions and exercises that forced me to step back, reflect and think deeply about where I wanted to go with my health, fitness, career and life. 

By taking that time I can honestly say that today I am leading the life that I whole heartedly desire. I am happy and healthy because of the work that I’ve put into my self-care.

While I am by no means perfect, taking that time for personal development has been monumental for me to say the least! Sharing what I have learned with others has shaped their lives for the better as well. Some have started their own companies and others have developed stronger and healthier relationships with themselves and others as a result.

The prompts I have laid out in the Elevated Journaling Kit will make you do the deeper self work necessary to find your internal motivation to get out after the bigger goals that you desire!
